Lovely shoes, Grace Lyne would make sense, as a play on words, as the figure in the logo appears to be posing. I have not heard of the name before.
The insole says they are registered with the patent office - whether this is for the logo or shoe design we do not know, do they have a patent no. anywhere? (it would be about 6 digits together) Sometimes pending patents are marked.
Edit: a quick google search just came up with this newspaper advert from 1930 stating the Grace Lyne range began two weeks ago. They were sold in the McCreery deparment store in New York. I would suggest your shoes date not much after this, early 1930's, though I found another advert showing the Grace Lyne range continued until at least 1946.
Thank you, this is wonderful information! No patent mark, some printed size info on the insides of both shoes, and on the bottom of one shoe, pencilled numbers...but no 6 digits.
Appreciate your help and the advertisement.
