Vintage stockings

Hi, is anyone familiar with this type of stocking? It curves at the top like a crotch, and has 6 buttonholes (3 on each side). The buttonholes would either be for buttons on a corset, or to put garter clips through.

I found one reference to a “Pantella” corset & button on stockings, but the add is Edwardian. These don’t seam to be that old.

Cotton and rayon. Ankle seam.
Thanks, as always!

What about these stockings make them seem not that old? From your pictures, they do look old enough! And, that was a fairly short period when stocking buttoned to the top - I have no reason to believe they are newer. I was just reading on this type of getup, as I have the top piece available in my shop. The buttons have a very strong and curious way of being attached as to not be able to pop off with the pull of stockings! Very cool to see the other side of the piece.

Thank you so much for the information! That’s very exciting. I’ll have to take a look at your shop to see the button side of the set up.
Not sure why I thought they were more modern. Maybe I was expecting Edwardian hosiery to be more delicate?
Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge!
