Vintage Sweaters and Wraps

It's fall again--my excuse to collect more cashmere and embroidered sweaters. I like traditional fall colors--moss greens, rusts, etc. I have a lot of 1950s cashmere sweaters in plain colors (especially browns and beiges) so am looking more for embroidery, etc. (I prefer embroidery to beading) and perhaps color blocking (but that is rare in women's sweaters). I have a 35 1/2" bust. I don't like the tight "sweater girl" look; I prefer some ease in the sweater. I am 4'9" tall, so nothing too long. Super condition preferred.

I am also looking for one of those white fox stoles (in excellent condition), the kind that go pretty straight round the shoulders. The ones that are 11" or 12" wide and maybe 44" around. But tell me, weren't a lot of the vintage ones on ebay collars when they were first made? And is there any fitting problem with wearing one of those collars as a stole?

I would not mind a red fox or a black fox stole, but they seem very hard to find, especially the black. I'm not interested in faux furs, but I think paws and skulls (taxidermy stoles) are gross.

Hi Fran!

I have a feeling that you are bang on when you mention a lot of the fox
stoles on ebay having previous lives as collars. One of the fashion mags
I was reading lately suggested using large collars, adding satin ribbon and
voila....you have a current, instyle little shrug stole! Now, as for the
fit, I unfortunately do not have any here to check out but think would
ask the seller the measurements around the shoulders if you see one you
are interested in.

I also have an off white one I am about to list..just need to get better pics. It is 45 1/2 inches around and about 8 inches wide. Hooks with two furrier hooks.

I just bought this Hand embroidered color block sweater on ebay... Its too small for me.... (Sighhhhhh) made in Italy Would make cute jacket. Bust 36" length 20.75" Arms 16" (Princess arms) Shoulders 17.5" Its unlined. Great condition,

I ordered one white fox shoulder stole from a vintage clothing site. Hope I actually get it as there was some confusion with the email.

I am still looking for a long white fox stole, the kind that is like a double boa, maybe 11 inches wide.

Also mink shoulder stoles in light colors--that very pale brown, is it called blush? and honey and other light brown colors. I don't want the classic mink stole (cape with long front ends). The latter are great, except they usually look big on me since I'm very short.

I am also buying straight/rectangular long mink stoles, about a foot wide, in white/blonde and the lighter brown colors (the mahogany mink seems too dark to me right now).

Also for a white ermine bolero, short waisted, to replace one I have that is falling apart.

All in great condition . . .

If anyone wants to sell me a stole (or whatever) directly or point out an ebay listing, it would be best to mail me at [email protected]. I keep losing my password for this b-board.

Chris, that sweater reminds me of my artwork.
(well..don't know if the term artwork really applies...but my rectangular "mondrian meets crayola" experessions")

I just listed several sweaters to my website. All new/old from the 60s, angora, mohair and mink blends, great colors. I hope you guys will check them out.
