Vintage Vest

Hi,

I am stumped on identifying how old this vest is. The fabric is velvet, it is lined, has boning, and the closure is a hook and eye closure. Any help would be much appreciated!

Lovely vest - it looks like a costume piece to me. Can you tell us anything about the fabric composition (eg, is the velvet silk, rayon or synthetic?) or construction (eg, seams, what sort of boning is used, steel, plastic or whalebone)? Interior photos and close ups will help.

Thank you! I appreciate your reply. I didn't think it was a costume piece because of how nicely it is constructed, but that is possible. How would I go about telling the type of boning? I can see it through the light and it is flexible so not steel...and the velvet is silk velvet.
