I've had this for a while and felt I should finally find out more about it. I know the company started in 1870 and that this piece looks pretty old! Any knowledge/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers x

What an interesting piece. Can you show the back, please? And maybe a closer up of one of the buttons? Are the buttons made in 1 piece, and do they have shank backs? Is it lined? Any pockets or collar? Hard to see the details.

Looks great!

Hey! More images there now. I'll take a closer one of the buttons when I'm next with it and let you know.

It certainly playing on the fox hunting riding habit vest look but I think its a fashion item. I have never seen a vest with a finished back like that if it is intended to be worn as a vest, under a jacket, so it was probably intended to be worn without a jacket, with a houndstooth tweed skirt and white blouse... My guess would be 1950s.
