I am looking for information regarding vintage airline uniforms. I have recently received some older USAirways uniforms and I am trying to see if they are desirable or destined for a Halloween costume box. Does anybody know of a place to find out more information?

In response to this certain newer years are not allowed to be sold if they are similar to the ones now for safety issues. I know because I have one.
Great resource link though.

Cliff is THE authority on airline uniform, and the best resource I know. Even after Swissair went bust and everything was liquidated, they weren't allowed to sell certain uniform parts - and they already had new uniforms at the time, with the new company in operation. They are very careful about these things.

Jonathan, yes - they'd been spending big-time for years, buying up non-profitable airlines (Sabena, anyone?), and 9/11 probably "helped" too. The airline was grounded on October 2nd 2011 and officially declared bankrupt. This was sort of a collective trauma for the whole country, as Swissair was considered a "flying bank" and probably the most trusted company the country had. A lot of people owned stock and in turn practically lost their savings. A few days later, a new company was founded, which is still flying today, Swiss in short, or Swiss International Air Lines in full. All Swissair stock etc. was taken over by Crossair, their regional airline (once an independent company), and that became Swiss. The airline code they use today is still Crossair's old code, and Swissair's code is defunct. Swissair was liquidated and they did everything to get at least a bit of money, so whatever was there was sold off. They held big sales at their old headquarters. Just today they said at the radio that til Sunday there's a pop-up shop at the airport, still selling off things. Those serving trolleys go for a fortune!

Love that uniform data base. Flying use to be a lot more classy back in the day, now it is like a prison.

This uniform data base is amazing ! But, I would like to know if someone could help me with a coat I found. What I know is that in the 1960's it was not rare for the well know designer, like HERMÈS in that case, to design clothes for the airlines. What I have is a coat that as this label on it and I would really appreciate if someone could tell me more about it. From what I believe its worth less than a "real" HERMÈS coat...

A lot of well-known designers designed uniforms for airlines. And some still do... Well I guess this wouldn't be worth a much as a Hermès garment from one of their boutiques -we're also not talking quite the same quality here I would say. I guess it would also depend on who would want to buy it.
Cliff doesn't show any coats with his Cathay uniforms on his page: http://www.uniformfreak.com/1cathaypacific.html . You might want to e-mail him, he could maybe tell you more about how old it is - maybe he'd even be interested in buying it... He's very nice and knowledgeable. I have written to him once because of an airline souvenir bag, and although not interested in buying it, I got a very nice reply and all that I needed to know. He also has a Facebook group - Uniform freak - on which he has loads and loads of photo albums showing old and new photos of airline crews. You might want to look there too.
