I have heard of the Vogue Paris Originals patterns but have never seen a clothing item with the label..have you? or know anything about who therefore art made them...

The green is not reading correctly i don't think. Picture more of a shamrock green, not hunter or moss.

Chris, there would be a label enclosed with the pattern and then the
seamstress could sew it into the garment once she had finished it.

The green on your gown is looking more of a dark kelly green on my monitor.

This was one expert seamstress then! I just can't seem to clip the dress perfectly as it is a few sizes too big for my gal.

Maybe i will have to look and see if i can figure out which pattern it was from. I could probably date it to the exact season then. (if anyone has seen this pattern, please chime in!).

I think i am going to scan the fabric or take it outside tomorrow. its more emerald green/dark shamrock - i think its my lights.

Thanks, Sue!

My first reaction to the date was late 60s, but I think that is a later
label.

Vogue Original patterns require someone that is pretty adept at the sewing machine (I made up 2 years ago, and never again! And I had
taken a tailoring and pattern drafting course).

Not all shops which sold Vogue patterns provided the labels - they were an extra cost to the stores and didn't come inside the pattern. You had to ask for them when you bought the pattern - sometimes the store had bought them and sometimes not. If I especially wanted the label (like for a wedding dress), I shopped only where I knew I would get the label.

I have actually bought vintage, uncut patterns which have the labels with them just to get the labels.

After a light cleaning, this will be on my website/mall store.

I am in the process of a major restocking that will be complete by the end of the month.

Might be a great dress for the holidays, you are right Linda.

Susan...i will have to reboot...the pic is not showing for me.

I've gotten that label in patterns as early as the late 50s. At some point, there were 2 lines, Vogue Paris Originals, like Chris's, and Vogue Couturier Designs, like Susan's. The Paris Originals patterns were just the Parsian couturiers, and the Couturier Designs were the other European designers such as Pucci of Italy and Sybil Connolly of Ireland. There were no American designers for Vogue until 1967 when they launched Vogue Americana.

I think it would be fun to find the pattern that goes with the outfits, and that way you can use the designer's name in your listing!

that will be a needle in a haystack!

But you never know. Now i will be searching for the pattern everywhere i see "vogue paris originals" - but at least i know just to look at french names.

Lizzie, should i submit this to the label resource(i wll scan it as that is blurry) (and susan hers) with the little write up so people will be aware that they are from patterns when they see the label?

Actually, these labels are already on the resource.

I have dozens of Paris patterns and I'll look through them to see if I have that particular one.

Don't worry Chris. I have done that so many times, that I have a big red mark on my forehead from hitting so many times going-"DUH!!!!!!!!!":BAGUSE:
