Hello, good people:
While my interest in menswear places me into something of a minority position here, it is my hope that you will keep my interest in the back of your head as you're picking through that {uncle's attic/swap meet/thrift store/consignment shop} hunting for vintage gold.
In my case, "gold" is easy to define: pieces from Alex's high-end (e.g., "Bespoke", "Couture", "Collection", or, since 2002, "Private Reserve") menswear collections from 1975-present.
Like most designers, Julian produced numerous "bridge" lines over the years, and, while some "bridge" (e.g., "Colours by Alexander Julian") pieces are indeed quite nice, nearly every "bridge" piece can be said to be a genetic descendant of an earlier (and better!) couture piece.
I've posted a few pictures of the key Alexander Julian labels of interest as well as a few representative ensembles onto the internet, at:
http://charlotte.backpage.com/Cloth...and_accessories/classifieds/ViewAd?oid=804676
The rest is simple: Any size, any condition.
Feel free to download/print/distribute the labels pic as far and as wide as your network of friends/colleagues/contacts can bear.
As I've also made a stab at posting these labels individually, onto the Public Labels Forum, feel free to rummage through these works-in-progress posts, as they may provide you with a bit more info.
Maybe, just maybe, with your help, I'll soon be able to fill in the many gaps in my collection and put aside my curatorial hat to get down to transcribing the book I've been writing (in my head) since I was 17...
Best,
Flaneur
