War Emergency Suit, UK or USA?

Just purchased this swimsuit, it seems to be fully adjustable with cord piped around the legs and back.
It's made by Martin White and says on the label it's a 'War Emergency Suit', just incase the sun comes out!

Does anyone know much about this brand? I've come across some American photo's and a UK Pathe News reel, but I am unsure if this originates from the UK or USA. What do you think? Your help will be much appreciated.

Yes, I also think it is British and may be as early as 1941. "War Emergency Furniture" was also produced during the war years. I've seen this name on swimwear from the 1950's with "Made in England." Great find and in very good condition.

Thanks everyone, great information.

Yes a lot of items were stamped with CC41 first clothing, then furniture and other items.

I might see if I can get the patent information, I had considered making a copy for myself and some plans would be useful.

I don't see a CC41 stamp in this - is there one? I have never seen a 'War Emergency Suit' label before and I'm not sure what its supposed to be. A bathing suit would hardly be considered an emergency piece of clothing, especially as most beaches were cordonned off with land mines and barbed wire! Siren Suits were designed for putting on quickly during air raids, so they are truly are emergency garments. However, CC41 (Controlled Commodity 1941) was a legislated garment that was made with all government imposed austerity measures in quality materials and production, and sold with a minimal profit margin to make the garments affordable to all. I wonder if this isn't some manufacturer trying to capitalize on the idea of a CC41 type garment.

Hi Jonathan, It's not marked with the CC41 label, I was just commenting on vertugarde message. It could be a manufacturer jumping on the bandwagon, interesting view point, you might have hit the nail on the head. Northern resorts were still in use through the war, and you could always sunbathe in your back garden! next to the Anderson shelter.

Interesting suit! I'm curious about the wrap panel inside with the set of adjustable straps - could it be a maternity swimsuit, designed to adjust as your belly does?
