Just a warning, but I am going to fume and complain about my morning......

My hubby woke me up at 6:15 this morning. The waterline to our icebox busted and we has 2 inches of water in the kitchen, laundry, a bathroom, the breakfast area and about a foot into the dining room. So for the past 3 hours we have been soaking up water with the carpet cleaner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I now have about 3 loads of towels to wash!!!!!

Oh, I have had that happen before! It also ruined my tile floor. Water got underneath and made the separate tiles buck up. Luckily, I had extra.

We just went through a water leak in the ceiling from the air conditioner. It ruined my wall papered ceiling that matches the walls. Now that all has to be taken off and put back in and then wall paper or paint the whole room.

I feel for you. What a way to wake up! It could drive you to :booze:

Thanks for understanding, I needed that......

Well the kitchen is linenoum, which those little tiles are already starting to curl. The carpet in the dining room and breakfast nook are completely destroyed. I am still using the carpet cleaner machine in those 2 room in hopes to elimate the odor a little.

That is terrible. Will your homeowners' insurance pay for it? I haven't asked about my ceiling damage yet.

I overdid the multi-tasking once when I was in a hurry to get ready to go out, get some washing done and make some food at the same time. I set the washing machine going, put some food in the oven and then went to wash and dry my hair.

...in the middle of drying my hair the oven timer started making it's noise so I wandered into the kitchen and stepped into a load of water. I hadn't closed the detergent drawer properly so all the water had run out of the drawer rather than through it and into the machine. Ooops. Luckily my kitchen floor is lino and I have to step down into the kitchen so it didn't wreck a carpet or go into the rest of the house or anything... but I had to cancel my evening out and spend a couple of hours mopping all the water up. My hair never did get dried right either, my dinner went cold, and I had more washing to do because all the towels in the house had been used to mop the water up!

...but mine was self-inflicted and yours was accidental. It's amazing how much damage water can do sometimes.

Our home owner's insurance is great. They have already stated that they will more an likely pay for it b/c of the amount of damage that we told them.

Let me tell you that I have used almost completely melted every candle I have in the house and used the carpet cleaner on the carpets every hour. Which the carpet isn't even close to being dry even with all that effort. But I seem to have controled the odor somewhat.

I used the 60 seconds of filming that I have on my Cannon digital camera about 4 times and about 50+ pictures though out the day of the damage we can already see.
