Web sites using Yahoo --- with a Mac?

OK - I admit it - I heart my Mac BIG time and will not go to the dark side. However, we are in the minority and sometimes we Mac people get in trouble.

Because of recommendations I read here, I just registered a web site name through Yahoo and I planned to use their site builder. (This is for my greenhouse/perennial business, not vintage clothing.)

When I downloaded the sitebuilder it is an exe file - which my Mac can't "read."
:sniff: It looked like a doofus like me could have used their site builder. I've never even loaded a microsoft program on my computer, but I see I have "word 98 Macintosh Edition" - maybe this will allow me to look at exe files?

I'll call them on Monday. Meanwhile - any suggestions? (other than getting a PC ...?)

Good HEAVENS!!

Even if only for a second, how could you even THINK of getting a PC??? :o

Don't do it, Amanda - DON'T DO IT!!!! :USEGUN:

First of all, see if that word program will let you LOOK at the file. But, even if it does, it's not the same as using Excel.

Call them on Monday, see what they say. If they don't have a Mac version and can't help you, tell them you want a refund if you're getting any special pricing because you're supposed to be using their sitebuilder thingee.

Then go someplace else! (where I don't know)

.exe is a program format. It probally mean you cant use it. So get a refund and us a site builder that is MAC freindly which Iam sure there is....

Do not go to the dark site......

Hi Amanda - I also have a Mac. I'm not very computer savvy and I don't know it this applies but is there anyway you would be able to use the program without downloading - ie doing it directly on line?

This is not site-building related, but I use Vendio to post my listings (did not need to know html) and they told me they did not support Mac. But I discovered that their program worked when I used Netscape, whereas testing their program on Safari or Explorer did not work.

Trust I haven't bored you and good luck!

I've been using Mac's since 1992 and I own three of them.

Anytime I've been forced to use a PC - I just want to hurl it out a window!

Amanda, my domain is through Yahoo but I never figured out how to do their site builder.:BAGUSE:

The easiest one I have found and the one I use for my tax business is through babylonwebhosting.com. I think for a simple site, it costs about $5.00 a month. The templates are easy to do and you can take a test run.
