Wedding Dresses 4

This one is silk chiffon like material over silk taffeta.

It has a red white & blue union tag suggesting it comes from a bit later.

It is creamy white & really well made. I really thought it was much older until I found the label which was hidden deep inside the dress. So now I am really confounded.

Would you call that chiffon? How would you describe those pleats?

Thanks

does this help?

The taffeta beneath is def silk, I burn tested it. I could not get a large enough piece to burn test the chiffon like material. If you need more photos let me know. I have a lot of this one.

I know the second one is big, but thought in this case it may make it easier to discern.

Thanks

I love these wedding dresses you're showing! I used to work in a bridal shop and loved it....

Anyway, this looks to be from the mid 70s, when a Victorian-revival type of wedding gown was very popular. My cousin got married around 1976, and her gown and our bridesmaids' gowns were in the same vein.

The overlay looks like silk as well, but I can't tell enough from your photos to be certain it's chiffon. It looks more like a silk georgette to me "from here," but I'd need to feel it. Is the surface very fine and very smooth, or is there some slight texture to it?

It has a very light simmer to it in the light, but it isn't glittery... I don't know.. it sort of (I cant think of any other word but shimmers). It is soft but does have a little texture to it. I looked at a lot of Georgette and Chiffon fabrics online and I think it is closer to chiffon. Are there other options? O.o

Thanks so much for all of the help.

I have a lot more wedding dresses, just need a model for them and I will have many more questions. They were too big for my size 0 model in these pictures and I am super busy at work, which makes it hard to find the time for my etsy stuff.

I agree with the others on date - I would put as mid to late '70s.

Polyester chiffon was popular then but I can't see them lining a poly dress with silk so my guess is silk chiffon - although silk chiffon does not hold pleats as well as synthetics do.
