Wedding Dresses 5 Priscilla Bridal

Last one for now.

I believe this one is made of silk satin. I cannot do a burn test since every inch of it is well finished and there is not a single place I could find from which to snip a piece.

Oh I was told this is from the 50s, but I have no way of proving that. The label is similar to one form the 50s in the label resource but again it says Priscilla Boutique not Priscilla Bridal

Priscilla Boutique (which I was told was the "haute couture" line of Priscilla Bridal. The skirt has a very high sheen but is dense and backed with stiff batting.

The lace & mesh over shirt is made of a very fine, sift and not stiff lace. This gown was professionally stored for many years. The satin skirt has lace flowers sown on that matches the lace top.

Every inch of this gown is finely finished and shows some serious high quality detail, but the batting shows more wear than expected, so I think it may have been worn more than once.

These very traditional gowns are harder to date.

The label is similar to ours but not quite the same as the "Of Boston" is not on yours.

I am not seeing 50s in this one. It looks either 60s to me or very early 70s. It has that little poof at the shoulder line and the very squared neckline and mesh back which is making me
think it is not as old as the 50s.

Yes I agree and did not see 50s, it is just what the lady told me. But who knows? I cannot find anything on Priscilla Boutique... but I only had a short time to search.

Thanks

Lovely, and I agree with Mary Jane that it's early 70s. A Feb 1971 article in the San Antonio Express and News says that the "Priscilla of Boston" label is the "couture" label and that the "less costly" Miss Betsy gowns have been joined by those in the "new" Priscilla Boutique division, aimed at "the girl with great taste on a limited budget". (There was apparently also a "Teeny" label for "girls under 5 foot 3".

Cool... thank you so much.

Cant wait to get the time to actually post them.

I do think these will be the beginning and end of my foray into wedding dresses *smile*

I agree with Mary Jane and Carrie that this is early 70s and not 50s--70s was my first thought "at a glance." Priscilla of Boston was such an iconic wedding gown maker--it's sad they went out of business.... I've never seen this boutique label, so I'm glad I caught your post!
