What are these exotic plants? They don't live in my garden.

At first I thought about wisteria, then no - not tropical enough. Palm fronds and coral?? Some sort of air plant? Bromeliad?

I need help from those who live in warmer climes. Or are better traveled than I.

They are orchids. It's not unusual to see the roots when you you see the orchid plant rather than cut flowers. There are a gazillion varieties of orchids. I don't grow them but I see them all the time.
