I purchased this dress (I'm assuming that it is late 40s/early 50 based on style, shoulder pads, and label?) and it came with some weird matching arm glove things. Does anyone know what they are?
Your "weird arm glove things" (I love your apt description) are fingerless gloves, sometimes called mitts. They sort of took the place of gloves, and gave your hand more freedom. Hope someone else remembers them and can help.

A steamer, if you have one, will help. Steam from the wrong side though, and be sure to cover the steamer head with an old nylon knee high . That will help prevent drips and water spots.
