What are your thoughts on this killer Cocktail Dress?

My brain is fried and I cannot for the life of me think of anything creative to write about this dress other than killer cocktail dress with huge off shoulder portrait collar that is boned all the way around to keep the shape. The fabric is silk and has a high iridescent sheen to it, would I call it sharkskin?

Oh! And it's a Larger size! Bust 44 :)

Your wonderful thoughts and an AWESOME title will be appreciated....

TIA, Tori

If the color really changes as you move, then definitely sharkskin. It looks like it changes to black from here. If it is just shiney, than not
It seems like "the whole room would turn" when you walked in the room because every move is emphasized by the color change of that fabric.

Is that a slightly balloon skirt or is that just the way the edge is wrapping around the bottom of the crinoline and playing a slight trick on the eye?

Hi Chris, I thought I was the only one up this late at night :bouncing:

I have determined that it is not sharkskin, just a silk tafetta that has a shiny iridescent sheen.
The skirt is full, it was just so darn big on Grace that when I clipped in the back it pulled the dress in front tight against the crinoline so I had to work it into a semi full looking shape, make sense?

Yup, I gotcha. The scale of the collar looks big on her. I know it is supposed to be big, but it is definitely scaled for the larger size.

But still with that sheen i would still go with the head turning angle.

It's a really pretty dress.

Yes, I am up late working on my website and organizing the entries so far for my site contest. Actually, really i am waiting for some laundry to dry before i go to bed. Hate to wake up in the morning and dry it like watching a pot boil.

sharkskin has that rough feel when you against the grain, mostly used in men's suits

what a gorgeous color Tori! I bet you would look awesome in this dress :)
