What date, anybody ?

I have had this amazing jacket for about 30 years or so. I thought it was handmade as it is all hand stitched but it does have a label which I cannot read.
I thought maybe 1930's or40's ?

Hi Jane. That's a very nice jacket, the fabric in particular is not the typical fare. I would suggest with that fitted waist and cropped sleeves that it is likely to be closer to 1950's in date, and probably had a matching skirt or dress originally.
The label would suggest it was commercially made. It might have some hand finishing, but the stitching I can see looks machine made.

Hi Jane, and welcome to the forums.

I agree with Melanie: I'll go with very late '40s to early '50s and it would have been part of a set originally with a matching skirt or dress.
