I may have posted this coat before, but I didn't ask if there was a specific name for this back treatment or a name for the type of coat. 60s red suede with fox collar by Highlander. 3/4 sleeves. TIA.

I've seen robes made like this. Anyone have a pattern which might give a better description?

"I am trying hard not to try this one on!"

I can see why!! A wee small for me :(

I'll have the start of my fall line-up up by Sunday night. I will post in sneak previews (hopefully, earlier than actual listing).

GORGEOUS! I think I will start photo's of my coats this weekend and hopefully I can even get some listed. With the labor day weekend coming up my only decision will be do I make them 3 day auctions or 10 day!

I know when I am looking for something to buy I want it NOW not days from now, so I may do some 3 day ones and see how they work out.

Hi,

This neat coat has what I would call a "Watteau Back" or a "Sack Back" because the front fits close to the body, and the back hangs away from the body.

The name is c. 1700's derived from the back of the gowns worn by fashionable women in the paintings of Watteau.
"Robe à la française" would be the more academic term for a floating back during that time, however that's pretty archaic, wouldn't you say!

good luck with the sale, Jennifer
