What do you call this woolen & what to do with this?

I've got this suit that IMHO is terrific, but am in a quandry.... I believe this to be early 60's; it is cream wool, but I'm not sure what the wool is called. I've seen this fabric before, but never had occasion to find out what it is. It has a loose nubby non-directional nap or pile--like a short fleece--on the outside, and is a very soft knit on the inside. Could it be lambsdown? It fits the definition I found: "Lambsdown is a heavy knit fabric that has a spongy fleeced nap on one side." You can see the nap clearly in the photo of the button (oh, and these are wonderful buttons--possibly bakelite(?) but haven't tested them). I'm calling this a "Jackie-O" suit, but is there anything more appropriate? And, last I don't know what to do with this! I hesitate to list it on eBay for fear it won't bring the pricing I feel it's worth (it is MINT). But if I put it on B Mall, I fear it will sit till winter is almost over.... Please, any ideas? TIA! (I have other views of this if anyone would like to see them.)

Hmm...my first thought in description was that it was boucle, but in the pictures i am not quite sure it is...

I would call it "winter white"

You won't be letting it go for less than the pricing you want if you price it accordingly. Don't bank on a bidding war. Price it at an opening bid that you would be comfortable with, but might not be your ultimate hope for starters. Or list it in the mall. If you price and present it like its special, someone else might feel the same way too. It could very well sell in the mall too you just don't know. But if it doesn't for awhile you won't be giving it away for less than you want.
I know, clear as mud!

I felt the same way that Chris did, that it "ought" to be a bouclé wool. It absolutely doesn't appear to be a knit. Those are probably plastic buttons given the era.

I fear the Jackie looks are a little less popular than last year at this time, but definitely price it where you think it belongs, and say MINT of course! "Jackie" is still a searched-for term. Good luck!

Those buttons are definitely NOT Bakelite but another type of plastic. Your buttons have a molded design and Bakelite was more often than not finished by carving. Hot Needle Testing will yield the best results for identification of the type of plastic if you're inclined to find out which kind (acrylic, nylon, polyester, etc.). Of course, you could just call them big, fabulous vintage plastic buttons instead of getting into the realm of testing plastic buttons!

Thanks, everybody, esp. the advice on pricing and info on the buttons--even if just plain old plastic they are so big & beautiful! I have just found that I have a matching dress to this suit, and it does have a maker's name on it! I picked up the dress a month or so ago, stashed it away & when I found the suit, I'd forgotten the dress... The dress is a" Morton Myles for Jeunesse" and is a mid-60's "early or slightly pre-mod look" with big diagonal zipper up the front. I will post a photo of that as soon as I shoot it. So, now that I have three pieces, I think I will definitely up my starting price. ....

Three pieces? that is great! Its hard enough to find a skirt with its blazer..but 3 is even better.

I agree..price accordingly and if it doesn't go...the Jackie look is a classic and it will always be liked by some- even if it is not the "hottest thing" this particular year
