What Era?

I bought this beautiful dress from a vintage clothing store and I've been scouring the internet for what era this gown could possibly be from but I haven't found something like it. Although i've definitely seen this style before I just can't put my finger on it, could you? It has those outward deep pockets at the hips but I can't remember their name either.

I would call those swags or draping. How does it fasten? if it is a zip is it metal or plastic?

Lovely, gown, looks like a pale pink champagne color on my monitor. I would say it's 1940s.
