What exactly do you call this/these?

I think I've seen them in an old Frederick's of Hollywood ad, but I can't remember what they were called.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I searched without success for all of your ideas, although searching for "dingle balls" (apparently a noisier 1970s phenomenon) left me with the feeling that if I disappeared suddenly and investigators seized my computer to help find me, they would suspect I was into something very strange if they saw that search ...

I think I'll erase that particular search history. :D

ahh haa I think I got it :-) Neck Pompons :-)

they are poMpoN not two m's I made that mistake like 5 times just now and I was a chearleader lol.... i would state them as af fur neck pom pons (I see it as one word a lot) or fur lanyards?? (not that it really is but hey why not sounds cooler lol) with pom pons (or pom poms if you think that will do better in the search) :-)

Hope that helps

Sorry I just haave been looking at more "pom pon" neclaces and the modern ones have one... so to set yours apart perhaps a titla similar to...

50s dual fur Pom Pon leather wrap necklace

or.. 50s leather wrap necklace with dual Fur Pom pons

yes they do go on your ice skates.... or roller skates.....but i think i remember seieng movies with girls wearing these too? could be bad memeory but I really think i do remeber it? But the skates for sure I had them.. except mine were looped so I could run the laces through them so i did not have to take them off each time i took the skates off.

Thanks for the spelling correction! They don't go on your ice skates because they are each connected to opposite ends of a double velvet loop. I am sure I have seen them worn around the neck, as with a poodle skirt. That was a lot of the reason I wanted to see an ad or picture of them worn that way. When I am back from the dog walk I will take a picture of the things off the mannequin, so you can see how they are made.

Yes, worn about the neck, usually under the collar of a blouse and sweater. I am quite sure I have seen seomone like Natalie Wood or Margaret O-Brien wear them in a film...

Well, as Jluthye kindly suggested, it was my misspelling of pompon that prevented my finding information about these. When I searched for "fur pompons" I found exactly what I sought. The picture below is of the pompons so you can see the velvet cord and below that are two 1954 ads for fur pompons. As you can see, the bottom sketch in the second ad has the same style pompons.

Thanks for solving my problem!

Another here that has always said "poMpoM" great to
have the correct spelling. I have a set of these too and
wasn't really sure what you did with them.
