What fabric is this???? 50s dress please help

I've found this cute 50s dress but I dont know about the fabric,doesnt look like anything I came across before.
Its definitely a natural fibre,doesnt feel synthetic and didnt have many syntetics in the 50s,did they?

Its like a cotton,only rather stiff and with a pattern(small stripes)...

Nice! I would call that a self-stripe cotton. They used lots of quite stiff cottons in the '50s, the modern versions are somewhat soft in comparison.

I think I'd call this a shadow stripe, and the collar on that dress is adorable!
