What is Ebay up to

I keep hearing on other forums & blogs add info about Ebay changing thing like feed back, increasing fee, people saying boycot ebay.
Is it true or just testing reations first?.
If true how will it effect you?

I know that many (buyers AND sellers) are boycotting eBay. There are some who just can't because of their reliance on it & even if it stinks, they have to pay the bills.

As a buyer, I am supporting the boycott. Ebay's just gotten way too big for their britches.

As a seller -- eBay has already burned many, many bridges with me. When they messed with the status quo last year, I closed my ebay store but would continue to sell things there now and then.
Now -- I really doesn't look like I'll ever sell there again. It's already so much of a risk (and an expensive one, at that!) that I'd just rather find other venues for my wares.

It's a complicated issue that might bring many different responses, all valid.

Paul, people are outraged, and many are boycotting....the new CEO has raised final value fees dramatically, while claiming to LOWER fees because initial listings are cheaper and gallery photos, formerly .35 are now free...:wow22:

Worse, the DSR (star) ratings that he rolled out right after the last postal hike and during the holidays....when the seller leaves stars, they're told that they are anonymous, so 'be real', and that 4 stars is really good, while 5 is stellar. On the SELLER end, you're told that below 5 puts your in the 'average' category. People who ship free and daily don't have 5

Worst, we are now told that soon the default search will be 'by the stars'....:fainting: so if you're average, your auction may be buried pages down and never seen by the buyer.

AND Paypal can now at their discretion HOLD all your funds for 21 days on 'risky' transactions.

LASTLY, and the one that's the icing on the cake.....buyers can leave negative but sellers can only leave positive or NO feedback....

Ebay's characterized the protest as 'noise', and I don't think there's a chance in hell of a u turn.
