What is this and how old is it?

I’ve never seen anything like this. I’m hoping someone can tell me something about it. It came in a tin of buttons. Most are from the 20s- 40s I think. Thanks so much for your help!

wow, that is a REALLY neat piece! judging by it's size, i would guess that it was a button for a coat, or a specialty dress or gown.

let's see if someone around here has some ideas for dating...

I am thinking heavy duty button as well, The two loops on back would keep it from sagging from the weight vs having a single loop that is stitched through on back. The motif makes me think of the late 60s (think peace dove) but then they took a lot of influence from earlier periods as well. Very cool piece either way!
