What is this? Brooch? Fur Clip

I have this beautiful pin but I can't figure out what it was used for. No latches of any kind n the pin part. I'm guessing its from the 30's?

Nice! I would think fur pin, or perhaps a hat ornament - it would depend on the thickness of the pin I believe and that's hard to tell without a reference for scale.
