What is this jacket?

I would like to know what type of shirt/jacket this is. I know the photo was taken in 1957 in Oklahoma, it was a half-zip with knitted wrists/waist, and the colors of the jacket. I would also like to know if or where I could buy one or one similar to it, thank you.

It looks like sportswear / training gear to me. My mother used to be a rower and they wore tops like these, though this was much later.
