What is this material? Grape/Blueberry clutch.

Here is a really snazzy clutch purse in the tonal combination of blueberry and grape! made in Italy and lined in white. (the clasp is actually blue, but it looks kinda purpley in the scan. The frame is actually very thick and substantial.

What is the outside material. It is a very tight weave. it is too smooth and soft to be jute, but it seems to me on the natural material line. too uniform and supple to be straw in my opinion, but who knows..... and yes, that is a secondary textured design you see that remind me of palm fronds- not wrinkling.

any ideas?

Sometimes if the material doesn't have a crossover into upholstery directly, I am at a loss. Of course i can fudge it, but i like to have the accurate names

Thanks, Chris

I wonder if its a blend of some kind, like a rayon/linen?

It looks like its the perfect size for the two most important items to put in a purse -- a steak, and an acceptance speech...

I'm LOL, Jonathan, although I'm not sure why!

But boy could I go for a nice NY strip right now... and blueberries (wild, Maine) and cream for dessert -

:)

Carolyn

P.S. Sorry Chris - nothing to add about the purse!

Its approximately 10 plus a smidge by 7 1/4....so unless you were at a really high priced a la carte restaurant where they give you a huge plate with a 3" entree and then drizzle the rest of the plate with glazes and sauces - yes a steak would fit. Unless of course you meant its homyn to protect yourself from vampires.

well...when you rub your finger nail on it the wrong way it sounds like it is in the rasta/straw/grass family. That's why linen did not cross my mind at all. it is really really strange. I guess I am not being scientific here, and the individual little weaves that you see...its not a weave i.e. woven texture to the fabric, but if you tried real hard (it is just hard because the weave is so tight, like a grass mat or kid's potholder making loom kit, you could potentiall, move one of the little whatever they ares down. I am not going to pull one out to test it.

If what i am trying to say means that it is a rayon linen blend, then just let me know - otherwise, i might be way way too technical here, should just describe it visually and leave it at that.

Chris

It kinda looks like the weft and warp are two different compositions in that photo. Probably the picture. I could guess maybe Rami is involved here. Too bad you can't do a burn test? Of the bag fabric that is, not the steak.

KJ

actually, they are the same composition i think it is just the scanner.

I got an opinion from someone who was physically in front of me

"That looks/ feels those natural placemats from pier 1 for a barbie doll house. or you could make a bunch of them out of that."

that was a lot of help, right?

and of course...no extra fabric and everything is woven so tight..you could potentially unweave a piece but i am not going to.

oh well.... at this point i may have to just play up the visual characteristics.
