what is this?? men\'s green fleece lined knitted jumpsuit

no labels that I've found yet, ribbed elastic loops at wrists and ankles, metal zip with NZ or ZN on tags, thick fleecy like lining, poss. wool.

Any ideas? pilot's jumpsuit?

Oh my goodness I love the not-so-subtle zip crotch :clapping: It's an inner thermal lining for either a tank suit or flying suit, I'm pretty sure.. ww2?

collectable/wearable do you think? It's not particularly cheap but I wanted to know what it was before I bought it: I can see some english chap gardening in it in their allotment!!

Hi,

I agree it looks like a military issue item, some sort of cold weather liner for a flight suit or jumpsuit, etc. I think it is later than WWII, the fuzzy lining looks like acrylic to me, might be wool....maybe this is Korean War or even a more recent issue....

I agree that it's acrylic, probably the exterior as well as the lining. And I can see some man wearing this to go hunting. Love the funny sideways fly zip. What a hoot.

I did wonder whether it was a more recent replica - I can see there is a big market for them in the US but don't know about in the UK. Don't think I can tell without labels or fabric content...

I have limited experience with these, and we know military issues dont change much, but it looks very similar to one my friened had as Air Crew here in the USA.

Yes under a flight suit. Hi I think had fasteners though some where? maybe velcro on back. But there werent many so they could peel layers quickly when hitting the water.

It looks very recent to me as this in nearly identical. But as I said earlier, the military likes to use original designs especially for specialized units. So who knows lol!

I had some wool field shorts and I was able to place them as New Zealand issue, 1950. Check out New Zealand flight suits and Korean war era.
