What is this shawl effect???

This is a fabulous chiffon dress that just drapes and flows like crazy. I think I can call the front neckline a 'cowl' shape - but how do I describe the back piece, it 'kind of' looks like a shawl, but it drapes down loose over the back and looks great. Also, am I OK on dating this as 60s? Images are a little dark, so I might be re-doing them.<p>

I'd agree that it is early 60s. Very lovely!

I really don't know what to call the effect except for "Deep V back with draped effect."

Well, I'm sure there is an actual name for that effect. I'll try to check the descriptions on some 60s patterns to see what they called it!
