This is so cute, but I can't figure out what period it is from.

Also, what was it used for. Lingere?

It's an adult size with a very boxy fit.

I think it's meant to be sleepwear. Patricia was known for their lingerie here in Canada. It's a 1960s modified version of 20s or 30s camiknicker lingerie.
