What kind of bag is this faux leopard?

Please excuse prelim pics. This is 13.5" tall, quasi-conical shape, 1/2 faux leapord and 1/2 (not sure - will do freeze test, leather, vinyl ??) and it has a sticker saying made in England. It lightweight and the cover/top has a rivetted hole in the middle - as if whatever was going to be inside would need air. I think it's a cusper 50s/60s, but I don't think it's a handbag and it doesn't look like a shoe bag.

What do you think it is? And am I close on the date?

THANKS

I think that is a bag to store your knitting supplies.

The height of the bag leaves plenty of room for the needles. The yarn threads up through the hole while keeping the ball of yarn hidden inside.

That is the coolest knitting bag......I think it makes a fab purse!

I agree!

I can't think of any other use for a handbag with a hole in the top unless it were feeding out yarn!!!

How fashionable is THAT?!

I would call it bucket, albeit, a narrow bucket.

Perhaps it was to be used during commutes or at the beauty shop when the ladies were stuck under the machines?

Just my thoughts! LOL
