What material is this?

Hello! I'm not very good with identifying material, so can someone help me please? This fabric is found on what I think is a 60s dress? (I'm not very good with identifying eras either) I think the dress is homemade and it has a lining. Sorry if this isn't enough information to identify the material, it's okay if you can't.

Hi KellyL, it looks like a jacquard weave but the fibre composition is harder to tell: if you can find a little bit that can be snipped, I'd try a burn test.

From the close up it looks more like a print on a plain weave to me? And the photo reads like a natural fibre, cotton,linen or even fine wool, but that's really difficult to be sure of from a photo - as Nicole says a burn test will help you determine the fibre content.

I am also seeing a printed weave, it looks like linen or cotton but you would need to burn test some fibres to be sure.
I would be confident calling that 60s.

Love the clor and pattern. To me it looks like a plain weave as well - I think the paisley print is distracting from that.

Certainly a print on a plain weave. The uneven widths of the yarn suggest linen to me, but it could equally be a blend or something else altogether. A fibre test is the best bet.

I can't be certain but it looks like a printed linen dress.

It is definitely printed fabric on a plain weave and could be a cotton/linen blend (sometimes called Union Cloth if it's a 50/50 blend) or all linen. It could be 1960's or it could be a revival. What is the lining made of and does it have a zipper - and what type? (Metal; nylon - any other fastenings?)
