What part of SA is this top from? And fagotting???

I think this hand embroidered hippie dippy number is South American, but I'm not sure which part - Peru? And would you call the treatment on the close up fagotting?

Thanks!

I would have thought more central American, like Guatemala... but I don't know. I would call the workmanship drawn thread work as a general term - but there might be a more specific name for the technique.

not an answer to your question (although i agree, it does look Guatamalian) but just a suggestion...

can you let out the top tie a bit more and slip those shoulders out farther to show the flirt factor more???

My first impression it is that is not Romanian. The embroidery on the front doesn't look familiar and i haven't seen any Romanian blouse with 'fagotting" before. The red thread and the fabric seem too thick . Fabric of Romanian blouses is very sheer and the embroidering thread is thin (gossamer).

Maybe if you could post a few closeups of the embroidery?

I'd agree with South or Central America, but I think it'd be awfully hard to narrow to Guatemala specifically. A lot of the ethnic embroidered stuff did/does come out of Guatemala, but most of what I've seen from there is more colorful (as in multi-colored). It could well be Peruvian, Deborah, I think. The symbols remind me of some Peruvian "stuff" I've seen. But could just as well be Guat. or other Central American country....
