What type brocade?

Hello!

I have a 1960s Ladycourt of London dress which has a brocade fabric and in the light the purple and green are irridescent.

I just wondered if anyone knew what type of brocade fabric this is. I've taken a close up of the fabric and included pic of dress and also the side as that shows the depth of colour.

Also, the skirt has been cut into 'panels'..is that just a quirk or does this design have a terminology? Why would they do that?

I don't think there is a specific term for this brocade, but I would use iridescent to describe the color. It's very pretty and probably even prettier when you actually see it. C

Yep, in the Vogue Fabric Store they use the term "Iridescent Brocade"
