What type of fabric is this?

Just picked up this large (size 40) tunic house jacket? I'm actually currently trying to figure out its exact use and that's what I've come up with. The piece itself has slits down either size and is pretty straightforward in the photo as to the construction. If you know what it might be apart from a house jacket let me know!

It's a sheer, rather stiff fabric with a metallic embroidery sheen. I think it might be a sheer polyester or rayon? The stiffness is throwing me. It's a bit itchy and instantly warm when you wear it. Help! Thank you

That looks like it may be part of a Shalwar Kameez set worn over pants.

Try taking a small sample of the fabric at the selvage edge and do a burn test to determine what it is. If it melts you'll know its poly.

I definitely have to agree after digging into Kameez's that that is what it most likely is but now I'm having a hard time placing it in an era. 60s/70s?

& yep, it did melt. So poly it is! Also, it it possibly jacquard or brocade?
