a furriers type hook and eye - the type you would see to close a fur or fake fur coat?

I have a faux fur cape in cream and am looking for a closure for the neck, I believe it would have been a hook and eye rather than a button and loop affair. (Sorry no pictures, my camera has gone on the blink and am sending it away to be repaired - tried using my old one and it just looks awful so am giving up until school holidays are over and I hopefully have my Nikon back! :mad: )

Had a search on ebay in sewing using the term furriers hook, but am drawing blanks. Any ideas what I should be looking for name wise?

hi...harriet.... are you looking for one to repair/replace ..?

if you are in no hurry, i can keep my eyes open for you, and when i get a coat in which is passed saving i can salvage the the clasp/fastener... or what every they are called.. lol....

when your camera is back just post a photo.. just to make sure i keep a look out for the right one.....

i do get them from time to time.....( know in my luck i will not have one for ages now...lol....)
 
Furriers actually DO call them furrier hooks....but I've never searched for them online to know if they're easily found that way! Ang
 
Sorry, went AWOL on this post!

Heather that would be great as no, I haven't found one yet. I know I've thrown out old raggy fake furs etc. aplenty over the years but stupidly didn't keep any of the fasteners.
