as you know i had a big haul of vintage clothes last week...

range from the 50's to early 80's ..

the lady that owned these clothes apart from being very tall...must have put weight on as some of the clothes have been altered ....

what she has done is opened the seam under the arm and added an extra panel........would you.. leave it and sell as they are, or would you unpick and remove and then re-sew the seam back ?

the extra panel that has been put in, in most of the clothes are the same material etc...

oh what a pain, are yu up to the painstaking job!! why not offer as they are, and let them do it, does it look awful, or is it a job well done???

shame though!!

Hi... sara.........some things are very professionally done.....so those i was going to leave alone.........

but there are varying degrees of finish shall we say.....this lady must have been very tall ....as here maxi skirts ..if i put them up against me... for them to be touching the floor on me.... more or less start between my neck and my boobs...lol... and i am just over 5 ft ......

and there are some lovely maxi skirts with matching blouses...... and these blouses have been altered......

have you thought about selling as a lot??

mmm yes i have thought about it, but thats as far as it goes....lol...

after this weekend....( as i am going to the bulldog bash in stratford )

i was going to knuckle down and get listing big time...

what type of things/condition would you sell as a job lot ?

I would leave them as is but perhaps list the lesser well altered items together as one lot if they are all the same size.
As a 5'9"er myself, it's hard enough getting tall vintage as it is but tall AND large is a rare and desirable combo!

I believe talls would sell very well. There are many (not me, though) who are tall and just like the ones seeking XL, they seek tall. So this may be a good thing.

As far as the more professionally done alters, I would leave them as is, just making them aware of the alteration. This may be a blessing in disguise since many women may need that extra room.

As far as the others that are not so professionally done, I might try to do small lots to see how they do. I would look on ebay searching vintage lot and see what other people do. If it is a small lot, I do think they disclose measurements for each piece. If large lot, they just give a size or S, M, L.

b*a*vintagequeen has done quite a few lots very successfully.
