What\'s your favourite season to dress for?

Silly question maybe, but I realised that I was getting quite excited about Autumn/Fall.

I think it definitely is my favourite season clothing wise, as I love greens and browns, and can wear vintage dresses with opaque tights and boots.

The weather itself (rainy, windy) is not my favourite but the excuse to finally get to wear one of a selection of coats I hoard all year for the first time, and if I can find the excuse a vintage suit is always an option.

What about everyone else? Do you prefer sundress season or winter furs?

Just wondering! :)

As an onlooker or bystander then for me the nicest ladies fashions are worn in cold weather.
A skirt just above the knee, short jacket with a pair of long boots allowing a small amount of patterned tights showing is always good.
Those really long coats that go down to the ankle are ok if worn again with a knee length skirt and sheer tights, boot are ok but court shoes with a modest heel are better.
Or if you like a short coat or jacket then it has to be a skirt of any length.
Sorry ladies but I am not a great fan of trousers if dressing smartly ,especially when worn with boots, or very stiletto high heels. popping out to the shops then they are OK.
Forgot to say a tailored skirt suite is very nice in my view even a more casual style can look great on some ladies.
Well that my two pence worth.

A few styles I like and Dislike not vintage

I disagree with you. Katherine Hepburn always looked elegant in pants.
And you would probably be horrifed of seeing the miniskirts and pants in my wardrobe :) (i do wear pencil skirts on occasion) And i would wear everything in that top row except #3 and #4.

I like fall dressing best. Some of my favorite clothing items are for fall and winter. I have a millitary inspired Escada suit that i love, a vintage camel hair blazer that I think was supposed to be a small mens but fits me perfect. And i have my great aunt's 70s Jones NY that i don't wear as often so much but i really like it. And of course all my formal dresses are fall/winter. And I also love all the shoes that go the season that i own.

I am not against mini skirts but in my view they only suite certain ladies sound as if you are one of the lucky ones, I have a look for Katherine Hepburn elegant in pants and see if it changes my mind.
The only ladies cloths I have are in my collection, I am too old for no 8 but I do like that look very much , but I could see myself with no 9.
But still these are not vintage so I might pass on them in favour of vintage.

I would have to say that autumn/fall is my favourite too as I just love coats (I have wayyy too many) and matching them to shoes, boots and handbags. Talking of boots I am rather fond of them too so perhaps that influences my decision a bit as well. I think too because I have spent most of my life so far at school and at college it feels like the year starts for me in autumn so I associate it with new clothing. In the past it was a new school uniform, shoes and bag, now it is an excuse for a new coat, handbag, boots, jeans...basically a new winter wardrobe. Hmmm perhaps that is why my wardrobe takes up two rooms! Then again that could also be because I am a hoarder. I am just not into that 'if you haven't worn it in a year throw it out' thing. I once bought a red satin miniskirt and it hung in the wardrobe with the labels on for 3 years then all of a sudden it became a firm favourite.

Anyway I digress, but I have to say I do think women can look lovely in trousers especially with stiletto heels, I wouldn't wear them with anything else. In fact some women suit trousers much better than skirts. I hate court shoes and kitten heels in the winter, mostly because I am small and they do nothing for me. Also I liked that heels lift you up from the wet pavement! I do like No.1 too, that has been my winter outfit of choice for a few years. I am not keen on No.3 mostly because a lot of girls my age seem to wear that look almost like a uniform whether it suits them or not. No.4 I hate, not so much because of the length, I just think the dress is horrible. No.5 I am not so keen on either, the jacket seems to do nothing for the model. The rest I all like especially number 7, that is me 99.9% of the time in the winter.

My favorite season is Fall. It is so hot in the summer here, I just try to survive in whatever...lol.

The greens, browns, tweeds are my favorites and I like the short jackets with jeans or slacks.

The jumper look is coming back and I think I could wear them with a loose neck sweater, tights and boots.

I love coats (overcoats) but hate to wear them. My favorite vintage one I still have is my brown plaid Lillie Ann. It is short and has a cape type effect. Posted it here once. Will have to go find the pic and edit here.

For younger women, I do like to see the British look with the mod A-lines, along with leggings/tights.

Most definitely FALL. My favorite...as I get to wear all the lovely jackets and coats I hoard...it sounds like quite a few of us have the coat fetish! Also, love autumn colors and they work well with my coloring! We get a lot of humidity here in summer so that is what I don't like about it. Makes it difficult to use certain fabrics as you basically ruin them.

I think we are almost all in agreement on this one-FALL/WINTER!!!!!

My only problem is that I am allergic to wool. I have to be very careful with my sweaters, coats and pants. But my reason is: that I love all my long sleeve tops!! The blouses for the fall/winter colors are better suited for my pale skin and red hair! I am not a tank and short skirt kinda od summer girl. But then I do love to wear the summer shoes!!!!!

I love the clothes of summer! Lightweight, femininefabrics like chiffon are my favorites.

That said, I HATE the heat.

Mmmm, I love the summer- I love heat- I wish I could move somewhere permanently hot like South Africa or somewhere where I could just wear sun dresses all the time.
When we had the "heatwave" here the other week, everyone was moaning about it but I was revelling in it!!
I've been wearing my 1950's Atomic horse print skirt, my pink full skirt 50's sun dress and a whole bunch of other repro 50's hourglass shaped things. I'm dreading the cold weather when I'll have to cover up :(

I love "opaque tights" season...but I also love miniskirts and high hemlines with bare legs. So I'm torn. :bouncy:

I love dressing for Fall. Donna Karan is my hero for popularizing black tights!

My fall "uniform" is very similar to Paul's #8. Just make the boot heels a little lower, the skirt an inch longer, and the jacket a little shorter, and there I am. I love those hip length jackets from the 50s, and have several in great tweeds. Skirts are usually black, and often pleated, especially in the back like a kilt.

I also have several black mod jumpers from the 60s that I wear over turtlenecks and tights. Add boots or cute flats, and I'm ready!

Fall lover here as well, living in Florida we only get "cold" weather for about 1-2 months, if were lucky. So with that said I love to wear my vintage fur coats and sweaters for a brief period...

Well today it is cold and raining, and I have taken full advantage! Am wearing 1960s burnt orange poly knit jumper dress (long sleevesand turtle neck!) over pale brown cords.. . :D (although it's warming up a little now so I may have to change, but enjoyed it while it lasted)

Well right now its 86°F 30°C but it FEELS like 93°F, it will get hotter as the day goes on....

Hopefully it will rain and cool things down a bit...
