Where would you list this cape?

How and in what category would you list this GORGEOUS and HEAVY wool cape.

It is actually a U.S. Navy Nurse's cape, but except for the labels inside you would not know it. It is very elegant and extremely well made and heavy.

The date inside on the name tage is from 1959. Would you list is as a vintage nurse's cape or as an elegant dress cape, which actually it is.

Thanks!

What a great find! This cape probably has historical significance so I'm not sure where you would put it. My capes were under vintage coats and jackets and then I listed them under coats and jackets in maternity and one just sold this morning. I look forward to what other have to say.

Have you considered listing it in both categories?

I know there are people out there who collect nursing items, so I wouldn't want to lose out on that angle.

I was not sure I wanted to pay for a double listing...it depends on what I start it at. It is truly a gorgeous cape and definatelty top of time, so I am not sure just what price I will start it at.

I was checking out listings for vintage nurses capes. They seem to be selling around $50 or so. Here is one that is still running http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Navy-Wo...ryZ48881QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem . They have theirs listed in the vintage clothing - coats & jackets category but have the military & nurse keywords in the title. Since the military look is so hot for fall, I think putting in similar key words to the above listing would be good.
Good luck,
Carrie

Stunning cape! Normally I don't double list, but for this one, you might want to consider it. If you start it low, the listing fees won't be too bad, and you can be fairly certain it won't end low!

I love the cape and considered keeping it for myself, but I really need the money.

LOL! I just said that about a dress I sold to a customer--bought it for myself & was hanging on to it as it was 5 lbs too small for me (note I am not 5 pounds too large for it!!!). Then got an e-mail from a customer looking for just such a dress for a function.... Now I wish I hadn't let it go, but I "needed the money!" Sad to say, she writes that it is a bit too large for her. So, against my normal policies, I told her I'll take it back if she wants to return it! I'd love to have it back....

So, don't be too rash on the cape--you may end up wishing you'd kept it! it is really unique--much nicer than standard military fare, IMHO!
