Whiting and Davis Chain Mail Top

I found a Whiting and Davis chain mail top in a second hand store and I was wondering if anyone knew of its story? It weighs about 4kgs. I can only seem to find handbags when searching Whiting and Davis. Photos attached!

I recall these tops, as well as the more popular halter tops (some with cowl necklines) being worn in the clubs in the 80s and into the very early 90s.

Are you sure the label is original to the top? It looks a bit off centre. The top is absolutely beautiful! What a find.
