Help with Whiting & Davis purse

Hello All, I posted this in another thread (sorry) and just realized it was the wrong place!

A purse question for the experts :) This belonged to my grandmother, but we're not sure of the age? It's Whiting & Davis, and although I've seen a few of their bags over the years, I've never seen one like this and was hoping one of you could help me with the date of manufacture. I called W&D and they told me that they don't have records of their older bags.

Would appreciate any insight or resource recommendations!
Thanks
Lisa

I am no expert but wanted to chime in, SO cute! I inherited the older 20/s30's style W&D bags from my great grandmother and love them. I love that yours is more on the soft looking side, love the plump handle.. how darling. Maybe 50's? Can't wait to hear what the expert gals say, everyone here is full of knowledge!

I think '50's is correct for you bag. This one which is gold armour mesh is the same shape - and it's '50's:

(I bought it.)

I would keep tabs on advertisements in magazines that are clearly dated - either you or someone else has the whole magazine or the person who snipped or scanned it has proper attribution (magazine, issue, date, etc). Those are a pretty good way to date bags - although there were styles that were around a number of years so it is not an exact science. And also, W&D didn't produce bags during WWII and slightly after, so there is a another way to narrow down things too.
