Isn't this a fun jacket for someone who sews?

I know who--it has a label--and approximately when. Help with the date please.
Thanks

The buttons makes me think of pearly kings and queens, so probably either Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen? However, the collarless jacket with the tailored shoulders, unfitted waist and hip length jacket with patch pockets looks early 90s to me, which is too early for McQueen, so Westwood? How close am I?

It isn't Westwood. The designer has an irreverent sense of humor but I would consider cutting edge. I agree that it looks like homage to the pearly kings but I've wondered if it were making fun of the Chanel cardigan and trims.

Moschino - that makes sense... the sense of humour is very him. Funny thing is I don't think I ever remember seeing any of that Moschino stuff being worn at the time, and yet it shows up as vintage all the time.

This a Molyneux. The photo is in The Power of Style by Annetee Tapert and Diana Edkins. It's Daisy Fellows and was originally in Vogue, July 15, 1941.

Great outfit! And because its Molyneux it would definitely be inspired by pearly kings and queens - especially during the war. That would have been one of his first collections back in London as well - I recall he left at the last minute, in Jume 1940, as the Germans were coming into Paris - he caught one of the last barges leaving France to get back to London.

Claire,

That is so wonderful, thank you for that photo of Daisy. Fabulous!

I asked my sister about her jacket and she said she is not sure of the label, she lost it at a restaurant (stolen off the back of her chair). She thinks hers was 1990.
