I have items from several designers/companies that I can't find anything about on the internet. I guess I am just nosy, but I want to know about the people that made my clothes. When and where they were in business, that kind of thing. Does anybody know of a resource for that kind of thing? I have tried using the RN#. But I have found that with older items, they don't match up.

The best thing to do is to post the names of the makers/designers. pics of the labels would also be able to shed some additional light on dates, etc. Many people here are just walking encyclopedias on vintage fashion and may know what/who you are talking about, and there is also a lot more info in resources that would not be on the internet.

just tell us what they are, and we will try and give it a shot!

on # 5) are you sure that "Glentex" is the manufacturer and not the fabric trade name or finish (or division) ? Reason i ask is i had several suits from Glengarry and it said "A Glentran (tm) knit" (which was antron nylon and orlon i believe), and if part of the label was missing, that is all you would see. Does it say "Glentex" (and in some teeny letters --By Blah Blah Blah). There were a lot of synthetics starting in the 60s (but probably earlier -) that had all these funky tradenames and could be 1% of something more than another blend that was another name.

The colors on #3) are just so fantastic. that looks like a shift dress - possibly 60s on the silhouette - hard to tell on the hanger .- but man oh man, that is the brightest rendition of that "traditionl" bouquet motif i haev ever seen (vs stylized psychedelic flowers. i would think the label means homemade/seamstress made, too.

The Katie Petites - i can't see the whole dress - but could be 80s 90s

Here is the label for the Glentex jacket. It is the only label on it, so I assumed it was the maker. And I am not sure it is wool. It feels almost like felt

I have a silk scarf made by Glentex. They're a US based co (if it's the same one) that used to make their scarves in Japan. Schiaparelli designed a scarf for them along with a number of young and up and coming designers.

I'll go see if I can find a picture. It has to be 30s or 40s.

I did a general search for Glentex on Google.

It's not the same label, but I guess that might not be so strange considering this is a scarf and older.
 
I'm not of much help on much, here, but I know my fingers and eyes find "Leslie Lucks," with some beginning heart palpitations, frequently. They seem to be 80s dresses, with 40s-50s-retro styling, though. Here's what I found in an initial Leslie Lucks search.

#4 - Jackie O. label - I think Jonathan was just mentioning something about this in another discussion.

#11 - I had good luck with a couple Leslie Lucks I had....I seem to remember Timber had a really cute one, too. Just put "retro" in the title! :)

#13 - Candice Candice - Sold a couple 80's romantic style dresses - did ok and actually had some Sellathon hits for "Candice Candice"

The made in Jamaica one may or may not be more of something made for tourist interest - someone may have bought it on a trip just like people want to come back from hawaii with a muumuu
