Who’s Got the Buttons ?

Years ago I needed buttons for a great 40’s suit and somehow I found Matthew, a button aficionado who lives in Normandy, France. He sent me the perfect buttons and we have become fast cyberspace friends.

HERE is a site that shows winners of various button competitions. The trays have categories, such as the material used for the button, the style of the button or the actual design on the button. I find the variety fun and fascinating.

This is a tray of reverse carved lucite -

And this one is “roosters, no people”

And HERE is a site showing ways to identify the material of your vintage buttons.

Aren't they yummy?

Thanks Amanda!
Those you've shown are little works of art in themselves.
The rooster tray would be a big hit with a couple of people I know at the antique mall.

Will be perusing those sites further.

They're all adorable! I love the "Roosters, no people" the fact that there are enough to put together a great collection.

You've inspired me to post about buttons on Circa's site too. I love vintage buttons: too hard to refuse, modern ones are so dull in comparison.

I told a "rooster" gal at the antique mall about the rooster buttons yesterday.

Her 1st reaction was "How much does she want for them?":hysterical:

I told her they weren't being offered for sale but one of my vintage group friends "showed" them to us.
