My latest blog entry was a little breakdown I had over all those darn wire hangers.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the heck to do with them all? The drycleaner won't take them back! And as you will read, I don't have any really constructive ideas.

I would really appreciate any ideas on what to do with what I have left!

The drycleaner won't take them back??? WOW, that is where I dump all of mine....

BTW, did you know that the lovely wire coat hanger was invented by a Canadian? Yes, you may now BLAME CANADA for the invention of Joan Crawford's fury.

There is something on the Yahoo groups called "Freecycle". There should be one for each state and then it's broken down by city. I post mine there. Found alot of people need them, but don't have the method and/or enough dry cleaning like us!!!!

Oh, man!

Jamie, I know about freecycle but i bet there are more people like me with too many wire hangers than people who WANT them. But that is an idea.

Well..Jonathan, there was that tune called "Blame Canada" from the south park movie. It was even oscar nominated. I will have to dig that up on the web. Yes, now I have a scapegoat for my dilemma! Unless of course the inventor was french-canadian, and then i will blame France too just for the heck of it.

I am afraid he was English Canadian, born in London or Guelph -- somewhere near me, I have forgotten where. He actually invented it in the States though. He was working for a wire company in Detroit and the company took the patent for it. He got pissed off after having been scooped for the patent of his own invention, left the compeny and moved to California where he operated a wire factory until he died quite young, I think he was in his 40s, if I remember correctly...

Anyway, he invented it in the late 1890s. I think it was around 1898.

Oh....and ironically I was born and raised (for quite a few years) in Detroit.

So it comes full circle...just when you start blaming other locales.......

I did find some other interesting uses for wire hangers on the 'net. a guy uses it for drying shoes (!)

i keep them in the tool shed as they are good if you need to paint or enamel anything with an aerosol. which in a house that is never ever going to be finished (or so it sems) is pretty freqently - usually door furniture etc.
and then i try and donate them to any one of my car mad relatives for use in the same area, but for the it's respraying bodywork!

Some of our smaller thrifts take them and sell them in bundles for really cheap.

I actually end up having to buy some from them when I take my clothing in to the consignment store. I never use my good hangers cause they never give you anything back!!
