Working on a property and came across these fur coats. Can I get help with ID on what fur it is?

Hi there, sure thing. The first is fox, the second is mink, and the third is mink.
I don't want to question you as you seemingly have a good amount of experience with these furs as your name is "furwise" and you VP this site. Is there a chance the dark brown one is beaver? I only ask because when I took these to r/AnimalID they thought it may be beaver or mink. Mink obviously lines up with your answer as well but, the texture on the dark brown feels more coarse i guess in comparison to the light brown one you had called mink. I just want a last bit of clarification before I list them online. I don't want to accidently mislead anyone if all I had to do was beg the question one more time. Thank you for your time and initial response regardless!

We got you, and we're happy help when we can :). The animals', mink and beaver have different characteristics. Beavers are much larger, and the guard hair is longer. Beaver guard hair also has a shiny wirey appearance and softer velvety underfur that acts like a soft blanket against the skin.

I can see worn fur along the opening edges and along one of the pockets of your brown mink. Based on your description of the way the fur feels and the missing fur I would say the fur and pelts are in poor condition causing the fur loss and the texture to feel different.

We don't have a full photo of a beaver fur coat in our fur resource but here's a beaver fur coat in full so you could possibly see some of the differences I mentioned yourself. The coat shown below is not my coat, I don't know the person whose coat it is, and the photos are not mine. Just showing it as a reference, and here's a link to where I found it.

Thank you again for getting back to me and for taking the time out of your day to educate me on the different characteristics between the furs. You are for real the best!
