Yard sales - what did you find today?

Wow, you found some cool stuff, Susan. i think my favorites are the yellow casseroles (love those handles!) and the barbed wire sampler on the Maine cutout.

I think those ceramic masks aren't as uncommon as we think. I remember when a ceramics student friend of mine had to find a friend willing to have it done to her. She had to breathe through straws in her nostrils while the clay dried. And I doubt that anyone with claustophobia could bear it. But still, I think in ceramics circles, at least at one time, it wasn't infrequently practiced.

what good finds! I did one of those ceramic masks to my sister when we were in highschool--forgetting to put vaseline on her eyebrows and you guessed it...when I took it off--it pulled off half of her eyebrows. yikes!

Jesus tapdancin' christ that is one creepy piece of whatever the hell it is.
I had to scroll down and see your awesome dining set and The Stig which made me LOL because we watch Top Gear too. Fluffy kitties make want to scratch their bellies....

this wasn't at a yard sale, but I found it today, early 20s pattern for blouse.

Yeah Dansk!
I have one of those casseroles in yellow and one in blue. Plus the big deep covered one. Ahh back to the 70's and the days of super cheap Dansk at the outlet store.

Wonder what Amos's ties to Maine were?

Oh I love that blouse pattern!

The "face" is plastic, like a mask and there are no holes for nostrils. Only weird slit rubber overlays on the eyes, which gives it an extra creepy aspect. It reminds me of an actual mask that hasn't been cut out of the shell.

And yes, Karen, Maine is the land of the Dansk outlet! I seem to find an inordinate amount of vintage Dansk stuff, all of which I keep.

Those casserole pans ARE awesome!

Susan, you are going to love this find, a bunch of NOS 50s Arrow ties, including some duplicate patterns & some other killer ones that DH kept (my fave, a pink one with tulip background & some blue & white delft windmills, marked Holland on the back... he put it away before I could photo it!)

Along with scarves cant turn down a great tie. I think Iam going to start wearing them this fall. All nice finds I think we all have simular taste....
