A decade ahead of the first moon walk, the space race inspired many young designers of the 1960s to create intergalactic fashions. Incorporating materials such as plastics and metals to create shapes and metallic tones, they were skillfully mixed with bright primary colors, and prints borrowed from Pop and Op Art. This week our members share their out-of-this-world offerings: shift dresses, A-line and mini dresses with bold futuristic prints and materials, go-go boots, hats, and over sized accessories of all kinds with a nod to the future.
