Is this a sun dress or a swim suit?

I am confused, is is a sun dress or a swim suit?

It is made of cotton and the bodice is lined with cotton, but under the skirt there are nylon panties? Zips up the back with a metal zipper and has a belt that ties in the back. The straps button underneath in the front.

At first I thought it was a swim suit, as I found it in the box with the other suits, but the skirt is longer, of course maybe it is just big on Carmelita has the bust is a 40?

Any ideas of the age, mid to late 50's?

    Thanks

I would say it was probably a swim suit.
Maybe the Mom at the beach watching the kids that waded up to her knees?
I'll let someone else date it for ya;)

    This edit is great.
Makes it look like you can talk even on your 1st cup of joe instead of having scrambled sentences.

Hee on the edit Karen! I agree!

Susan, I also think it is a swimsuit. It looks like it is large for your
gal, and on a more 'voluptuous' figure this would actually be a bit
    shorter.

Mid 50s? (this is a guess - I get confused easily with swimsuits)

    Sue:)

Well I did find it in that box of suits, someone thought maybe it was a sundress; and you are right on Carmelita it does look longer but I tried it on and I think it is a swim suit...

Off the change my descriptions I am working on...

Very cute! I love blue and green together. I'm with the others - swimsuit. But dating suits is a toughie for me. Just really wanted to say I liked it. :)

Well, I'll go against the grain here and say that it's a sundress/sunsuit. Dresses were not anywhere near that short, so the attached panties were a modesty issue. And bathing suits weren't that long either, not even for the chubbette.

Brenda I think now I have to agree ( as I scamper to change descriptions back to original!)

I have tried it on and come to the conclusion that is a Sun Dress or Play Suit...

#1 The skirt is too long for a swimsuit, even though it would not be this long on a fuller figure, it is still too long for a swim suit.

#2 The fabric, especially the paisley one which is a polished cotton, would just take to long to dry and hang heavy on you.

#3 the way the back is cut is more like a dress than a swim suit...

    Regardless they are really cute!

I think that it is a swimsuit, but on a shorter person it would be a great dress.
