My collection purge confession: the ornamental dresses I can\'t part with.
I'm shortly to pack up all my belongings for storage, so that someone else can live in my space while I spend quite a few months away from home.
I'm pretty active, my day-to-day clothes have to be pretty stretchy. Yesterday, I cycled nine miles to attend a wedding...
So my vintage clothes are being whittled down to the bare essentials of:
- what I can wear a fair amount.
and
- what suits me.
Everything else is supposed to go. Except that it's not... not quite.
This late 30s light cotton gown by 'India Arts and Crafts Inc.' 115, East 57th street has stayed securely packed up. It was getting out the comparable Louella Ballerino style for listing that reminded me of this one. I love the colour, the images, the construction...
And another perfect example of something I really don't wear (these dresses always seem to come in 40" bust or more), but can't dispose of (or resist more of...) - something that's virtually a picture on the wall:
By Flair of Miami. For a while, the Florida manufacturers seemed to specialize in this kind of print. Anyone know anything more about them?
Anyway, I thought I'd confess, and ask for understanding from fellow-sufferers... Perhaps it'll force me to get more of the marginally less loved items up and listed...
